Bellhousing bolts rattled off...?
Hey yall, First time Posting here hoping to get some advice and help.
I have a 1995 Toyota Pickuo 4 22RE 5 spd Manual.
Clutch stopped engaging the other day. Got it back to the firestation... and had a couple people help me look at it.
so far we found that the bellhousing bolts, top two, were missing and the ones on the bottom were loose enough to undo by hand.
I have a couple questions.
1. what are the exact specs of the top two bolts. M12-1.25 pitch?
2. if I bolt it back do you think it will be drivable.
3. should i just drop the transmission and do the whole shebang and replace the clutch and fly wheel?
or could i just pop it off and inspect the parts and then put it back together in hopes that it will drive again?
4. has anyone had this happen? i spoke to a friend and he said that theres something wrong with the motor that is making the bolts vibrate off... I live on dirt roads and i feel like that is more of a factor than the motor because the motor is newer than the truck itself as it has lower mileage than the truck.
im sure im missing some kind of info that would help so please let me know what else i should include to help further this investigation of what happened and what to dosss

Those top bolts can be a struggle to torque down properly unless you are properly tooled up.
You need one helluva an extension. Toyota techs bitd used a three foot extension just for those top two bellhouising bolts.
I'd put the bolts in and torque everything down, then see what you've got. If the bellhousing developed much of a gap between the rear of the block, very little in fact, that could defeat the clutch from working properly.
Those bolts never vibrate loose unless someone just didn't do it right when they were bolting the bellhousing up.

What Jim said. I use a super long extension on my impact with a wobbly impact socket from under the truck. I use the impact to pull them and to "run them in". You can put a torque wrench on but I don't know how accurate it would be. I just use my long handled ratchet and get it tight. I've had a LOT of trucks with this engine over the years and never had one of these bolts get loose or come out.
