Replaced speakers on 85 pickup and no sound.

I replaced some old crackly speakers with some new ones and now there is no sound at all. They were working before but now they do not. Could Inhave blown a fuse? Do I need an amp? Any help would be much appreciated!!

I did not. The speakers have a large and small connector the wires so I matched them with the small and larger connector on the wires.

if you have your OEM radio unit still installed it’s possible that the new speakers may require too much juice from the factory radio to power them. OE SPEAkers require very little power.

replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit may be your best bet.

If the wires aren’t correct they will just be out of phase, this will not cause them to not work just not preferred. Can you just throw one speaker back on to make sure it’s still operable??? You should be able to hear something from a new speaker…..

plug the old ones and test,
do they work

could be bad new speakers,
could also be that they arent getting enough power. but you should still be able to hear something.
