Non-OEM Brake Boosters?

So the brake booster on my 2nd gen went out today and the stealership wants $1000 for the assembly (lol). Just wondering if anyone can vouch for reliability of any of the third party options?

There's this amazon special "PartsFlow" for $70:
Amazon Amazon

Or there's remanufactured "BrakeBest" or "Cardone" from a couple sources: O'Reilly or YotaShop
Or there's this $300 one from "Yotamasters" which definitely feels like some random other one with their label slapped on... Yotamasters

Anyone happen to have experience with any of those or other suggestions? Ideally I don't want to do this again for another 280k miles

I’ve got an SKP from Rockauto on mine. Time will tell but it’s lasted a couple of months so far.

The price is certainly right on that. Thanks

Chances are you will with aftermarket…..unfortunately that’s our dilemma with these gold coated parts from Toyota, I just learned the hard way with a timing chain…..

think of it as an opportunity to upgrade your brakes.

i've been running a t100 booster that i got out of a junkyard, probably 8 years ago... even if it dies, it has trade-in value at the parts counter.

That requires a t100 master cylinder too though, right? I'm daily driving it and parked/working in the street, so hoping I can just bolt up a new booster without even having to bleed the brakes. I want to go to disks in the back eventually anyways, so probably save the master cylinder upgrade for then.

I could be wrong but I don’t think there is enough slack in the brake lines to do that.

Yeah we'll see. There's a video where someone does it with a 3rd gen, so hoping I can do the same

looking at your parts links, some of the t100 trucks use the same booster that your '93 v6 uses, so maybe i'm barking up the wrong tree? you already have better brakes, so where to get a stock replacement?

do you have the specific toyota part number? because this link says that the t100 boosters are discontinued: https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem-...e_booster.html

i tried to filter by '93 v6, both results show discontinued.

the rockauto link: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...e+booster,1884

the cardone unit is much cheaper there, vs. yotashop

Not an exact part number no. The Toyota parts site shows "Fitment not available" for all their brake boosters. I'm like 95% sure it's some variety of PN 44610, though.
I think you're right, several listings show cross compatibility between T100 and V6 4Runner. I thought the T100 used a 1 1/16" bore master cylinder while the 4Runner uses 1", but maybe the booster itself is identical

i was thinking the same thing about bore size... fwiw it looks like there are several different t100 booster part numbers.

the rockauto differences are new(2) vs. reman(the rest), and warranties.

the new skp warranty is one year? new cardone is limited lifetime, vs. all of the remans having shorter warranties?

Oooh good catch, I hadn't realized that $200 Cardone was new. That's feeling like the best deal to me. Also nice that it includes the seals, which none of the other kits mention.

cheaper with free shipping at walmart? same price as amazon: https://www.walmart.com/ip/CARDONE-N...yota/147316318

at least with the remans you should be getting toyota steel and toyota fit, and afaik some of the parts chains have a lifetime warranty regardless of what the manufacturer warranty is... pricing is all over the map tho.
