Heavy Duty Battery Cables

The fact that I installed an sPod before I decided to fix my oem old crusty battery terminals and cables is kind of ironic . Anyways, I decided to dive in deep and make some nice heavy duty upgrades, that are a direct drop in for oem. These cables are 2 gauge cable with military style terminals. The negative side has a 4 gauge body ground strap on it. The engine block lug, body inner fender, and negative terminal all have 90 degree lugs. All lugs are hydraulic crimped and soldered. Both main cables are loomed for abrasion resistance and have dual wall heat shrink at the ends. The starter end has a heavy duty boot, and the negative cable has an oem style cable retainer to attach ti the inner fender. My buddy loved them so much he asked for a set so I’m off to make another pair tonight. I considered offering these on YT but I’m fairly certain there is already a fellow member on here selling battery cables, I just can’t remember his handle. Maybe someone else can chime in with that contact.

Not yota specific but I run custom 0 gauge on my k5. All parts from batterycablesusa.com. Hydraulic crimper from Amazon. Pretty simple to make your own. Probably gonna do the same on the 4Runner as the cables are currently utilizing some cheap bolt on terminals.

Excuse the mess. In the middle of wiring after engine swap and efi addition.

youre right, they can be relatively easy to figure out for someone who has never made a set, but usually after adding up the cost of buying lugs, terminals, shrink, loom, cable, retainers, crimpers, heat gun, for a one time use, it may be in that persons best interest to simply buy a set of cables. this would obviously not be aimed to someone who already has the ability to make their own. let us know how yours come out for your 4runner!
