My 88 front driver is making an awful Rubbing/grinding but more so rubbing sound when locked in 4x4 it's mind blowing, put new wheel bearings in so it's not the bearings. Even when hubs are locked and put into 2wd front driver still makes sound and slight vibrations any help would be very appreciated.

it sounds like no CV joint I've ever heard before unless this is just some fluke CV joint going bad.

 

Solid axle or ifs? If ifs make sure the steering knuckle bushings have plenty of grease. They can make some terrible noises especially as it starts to get colder.

 

if its only doing it in 4x4 and not doing it in 2wd..then the issue is rotational. sounds like youve narrowed it down to a bad axle or improper assembly..pull the axle, inspect, reassemble.
