Bucket seat swaps

Bucket seat swaps
Hey I’m loving my little Toyota now that I’ve done a bunch of work on it but after spending more than a few minutes in the drivers seat I’ve decided it’s not the most comfortable thing in the world at least not for me (being 6’5 sucks) and I’m considering swapping in some different seats. I’m not afraid to get custom and fabricate new brackets but I’m curious as to if anyone else has done it and what seats they’ve used, aftermarket racing or OEM seats out of another car.

Was in a similar boat, except I'm only 5'6" and mainly wanted to swap out seats because the split bench seat in my '94 XtraCab looked like a rabid cheetah had been locked in the cab for a few hours, plus there's just something appealing about bucket seats, a center console, and the leather shift boot and plastic bezel around the base of the shifters rather than just seeing the capet right there.
I ultimately ended up finding someone parting out a '93 SR5 XtraCab that I bought the bucket sport seats, center console, and shifter bezel from, but I was searching for quite awhile and remember seeing info out there that made it seem like some 90s Honda seats were apparently pretty easy to swap in, perhaps some of them might've even been a bolt-in or near bolt-in affair. Think it was Honda Preludes and/or Acura Integras, which might mean that Honda Civics would be included too since Integras were same/similar platform.

I've actually got the sr5 pickup so I already have buckets and the center console which is nice and the seats aren’t the worst it’s mostly the headrest that bothers my neck

I put Audi TT seats in my '91 here. The issue is getting the seat low enough. It's OK for me (5'9") but my 6'1" son would like it a bit lower. The Audi seats sit right on the floor in the original install in the TT. Because of the contours in the 4Runner floor you have to adapt the original Toyota standoffs to the Audi seat rails. This is likely a problem for other donor seats as well.

I have an SR5 with the bucket seats and center console. Never liked them. For me, the lumbar support was to pronounced. Felt like a foot in my lower back. The seat cushion wire support was to weak and felt like I was sitting in hammock like hole. I added a full seat area 1/4" plywood sheet under the seat cushion and on top the wire spring support. It still has spring, but the seat is more flat. After 37 years the lumbar has molded to my back. LOL.
I like the firmness and flatness of Honda seats.
