5VZ swap: ORS headers, worth it?

Title says it all. I’m in the middle of prepping for a 5VZ swap into my 1991 Pickup and am trying to decide if I want to use the stock manifolds with ORS’ left hand crossover pipe or if their headers are worth the extra cost.

I don’t currently have any plans to supercharge the rig. Longevity is always a priority over anything else. I know stock manifolds basically last forever and headers can be more prone to cracking down the line simply by design (thinner metal). Are there any other advantages to headers (pulling heat away from the engine) aside from power? It’s about $400 more for the ORS ceramic coated headers over their crossover. I’m already going to be paying a pretty penny to do the swap right by having Yota1 rebuild the 5VZ, but I’d rather not throw more money at headers if it really isn’t worth it.

I did my 5vz swap on a budget but I did consider headers as well but I’ve dealt with headers on other vehicles and I don’t really think they’re worth it especially shorty headers

thanks. That’s kind of where I’m sitting. I’m more of a longevity and durability person than peeling tires. If I was going to be putting a supercharger on it would be more of a consideration, however the more I think about the extra heat soak in the engine bay, extra cost, and the fact that the 5VZ is more of a low RPM torque band motor the more I think I’ll just stick with stock manifolds. The ORS crossover will make things easier though.

I don't think I'd want to deal with running another exhaust pipe on the passenger side either.

The ORS kit is shorty headers with a crossover pipe that dumps the exhaust roughly where you need it on the driver's side, however it is a little tighter than with manifolds.
Regardless, looks like I'll probably be sticking to manifolds for this one.

I didn't know they had that kit. Nice. I'm a cheap a$$ so I cut up and rewelded the stock exhaust. I had both early and late style available to work with. A 99 4Runner and a 2002 4Runner. I went with the cast iron ones off the 99 4Runner. So far it's still holding up since 2010. Good luck with your swap.
