92 Pickup Body At Hood Hinge Torn

Hey guys,I could try to explain my issue but I think the pictures just do a far better job. As you might have guessed I’m trying to get the hood hinge bracket securely attached to anything I can. This is on the driver's side and as y'all can see it completely tore away. However the passenger side doesn't appear to have any stress cracks or tearing at all. I’m a welder so I can get a small piece of plate and start trying to half ass shape it to all the weird contours that are in here and then weld the plate in and then weld the hinge bracket to that. But I REALLY REALLY don't want to. Has anyone seen this or had it happen to them? I heard that this is a common problem for these truck but I don't know that for sure. Maybe someone already makes a plate that I can add to the surrounding body. Basically I'm at a loss as to where to go from here and any input would be appreciated.

I saw lots of hinges wear at the pivot and bind, but not fail like that. I think you’re going to be stuck fabricating and welding. I doubt you’ll find a sheet metal part ready-made to fix that.
