My fifth gear went out a while ago. Today I busted the transmission open to find my fifth gear can move along the shaft and the ring that presumably keeps it stationary is broken in half.

It looks like some teeth on the gears and shaft are gone or damaged. Specifically, two teeth on the shaft where the fifth gear sits are missing and a few gear teeth are damaged on fifth gear and its mate (see photos)

Am I ˟˟˟˟ed or can I get by with only replacing the keeper ring?
