5th gear went out on me a few months ago. I finally got around to tearing apart the transmission and I found that the ring which presumably holds the fifth gear in place has broken, and the fifth gear is free to move along the shaft. Two teeth broke on the shaft and there is some minor(?) damage to the gears (see photos).

Am I ˟˟˟˟ed or would it suffice to just replace the keeper ring?
