Supra AFM ID Help? (for those who have one)
Don't worry, I already know the right part #: 22250-43110.
Interchange #s include Denso 197100-3020 and Cardone (remanufactured) 74-20028.
So, here's my dilemma. I bought a 74-20028 Cardone, that said it came off of a '82 Celica Supra. Problem is, the part # on the cover doesn't match. It shows 22250-74020 (Denso 197100-2390). It just has a sticker on it from Cardone that says 74-20028, and as far as I can tell that number is ONLY for reman 43110s. The cover isn't factory sealed, as is the case with all of the re-manufactured ones, so my guess is that the cover simply got replaced with the wrong one but the AFM is right. I think the AFM is correct because of how it looks -- it has the expected 3" outlet, but it's missing the round air filter adapter that it should've come with. Pretty much all of the reman Cardones are pictured without it, but with the correct cover on, so I guess it isn't too surprising that it isn't there. They are removable after all. It also has this little fitting to the left of the square inlet, which I've only seen pictured on 43110 Supra AFMs. My stock 4Runner one doesn't have it, when I search the part number on this new one's cover, those pics don't have it (also not a whole lot comes up), and my other re-manufactured stock replacement doesn't have it. Later-than-82 Celica AFMs also don't seem to have it. It's pictured below. So what I'm looking for is someone who has one, with the 43110 part number, so that I can compare features. The other thing that makes me think it's the correct Supra AFM is that it works; doesn't fit the airbox obviously, but I plugged it in and ran the truck just fine with it. Both at idle and at speed, seems to work just like my original. I'm not sure if the other Supra years that need the electronics swapped work at all, or if they just work poorly. So if someone knows that, it would help too. With everyone saying only the '82 43110 is plug and play, I assume because it works that it's just got the wrong cover on it.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks!
