I am contemplating a drive up to the greenwater area and onto FR 74 a ways. I'm a little concerned about the snow level, runoff and road condition. Has anyone been out that way recently? If not, would the ranger station know if the roads are open? DOT website has taken down all their winter road condition info.

P.S. I know it's stock rig boring run for the more adventurous of you but I want to take a drive out to lonesome lake this spring/summer (maybe Memorial Day weekend)...anyone interested?

 

I haven't been out there for a while, but I bet it's similar to what we found at Tinkham this week, a pretty fair bit of snow starting at 3000 ft or so and increasing as you go up.

Lonesome Lake is always a fun drive Keep us posted as you nail down your plans.

 

C'mon out and watch the nuts play at Cranberry Lake this weekend. Rod, you should enter your rig in the tuff truck challenge on Sunday. I'm gonna run this competition. First time ever competing. I'm not planning on winning, but if I can finish unassisted, I'll probably finish in the upper half anyway.

I was out that way this week and the snow level was at about 4000' and climbing. This weekend should be righteous for Greenwater.

 

The loop from 73 to 70 that dumps down into the gravel pit would be a great chance to see the mountain in all its glory, but I'm pretty sure the summit on 73 would have snow still.

A couple of times though many of us went over the summit for a few runs.
I'd love to get out and get up there this weekend, but to much to do, gas is to dang high, and other stuff.

 

I'm going to aim for Sunday of Memorial Day weekend for a trip to Lonesome Lake. I guess the regular meet up point is the QFC parking lot in enumclaw?

Good site, saw this...
That's the main asphalt road that you climb for 10 miles up 70 before it turns into dirt.
The trailhead there to the lakes is on the right about 1.5 miles before the blacktop ends, and often a stopping spot for us as we venture higher.

 

yeah, I saw that too, though I'd have to look at a map to know where all those roads are exactly and in relation to each other.
