Auto trans filter?

Is it necessary to clean the screen every fluid change? 2 pain in the butt pan bolts are why I am questioning.

The screen is reportedly self cleaning and does not require service. When I removed mine to install the Level 10 V/B the screen appears to be able to drop any little nasties it picks up while running.

It's not self cleaning but it seldom needs service.

Back40, do you mean a full flush or just a drain and fill? The filter doesn't need to be cleaned very often, I just did mine for the first time at 150k miles but then again that was my first flush too. 150k miles between flushes isn't advised .

Getting ready to do a drain and refill on a Highlander with 64K and Rav4 with 35K. I'm not familiar with the trans flush. Can someone explain how often it should be performed? Thanks!
