1986 Toyota Pickup, 4- wheel drive, Auto transmission, manual locking hubs: Front passenger axle has radial play and a score/gouge mark in the axle's splines. What do I need to replace?
your pictures don't show the "score/gouges" in the splines.
when you took it apart, was the small snap ring that rides in the groove just to the inside of the splines still there? and the washer behind it? how about the 12mm bolt at the end of the stub?

Getting old, sucks. I forgot that i removed a snap ring from where i referenced the score in the splines. The snap ring, washer and 12mm bolts were installed.
so, how much radial play with those installed? if the locking hub slides over the axle splines without much difficulty, the splines can't be too bad. if that's the case, i wouldn't worry about any gouges/scores; but depending on how much play in/out might need to be solved...
