How is the jack secured in its original location. Right now its just sitting there, with the tool kit under the driver's seat. Not good in a rollover situation for sure. Thanks.
There's a bracket behind the driver's side for the jack, and a pair of clamps on the back wall behind the seats for the long portion of the jack handle. The jack lays flat, as flat as the jack can be, in the bracket, with a rubber strap over it holding it in place. The tool kit goes under the driver's side seat, just loose.
That's how my pickup was when I bought it in 88, and it was pretty much factory when I got it. Still is, honestly. My jack still sits in the the bracket, with the original rubber strap stretched over it. The tool kit still sits under the seat, and the long handle still clamps into the clamps on the back wall.
Does that help at all? I can try to get some pictures if you need...

Looks like someone decided to grind the holder out in your pic……
in your first pic your jack is right below where the holder used to be, you put the jack under it and twist the jack to pressure hold it so it’s secure…..

2ToyGuy... Thanks! Yes a picture or two please, just for my info. I carry a 25" harbor freight breaker with cheapo impact socket, and scissors screw jack if I go some where I think I might need it. I guess I'll just fasten a strap tiedown over the jack just to keep it from rattling and slow it down if I should get into some heavy negative g's.
