Un-Bobbing a 1995 Pick Up

Well, the title says it all. Here’s the story behind my idea. Basically I’ve had my eye out for a while for a 4BT swapped Yota, finally found one out in Utah (I’m stationed in Cali with the Coast Guard) and I made the decision to fly there and buy it. The bed is bobbed 17” and it’s just too much for my taste, I plan on offroading this truck but it will be used 9/10 times driving to work or being used to grab stuff from Home Depot etc. In my mind I think a bobbed bed makes perfect sense for the weekend toy, but this is going to be more than that. With the frame being cut, do I have any hope in having structural integrity again? In an instance of towing or something of the like? Getting a new bed should not prove to be too difficult. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should go about Un-Bobbing the bed? I’ve searched and searched but haven’t found anyone in this circumstance. Image for reference.

thanks,

garrett

I would imagine with metal and a good fabricator anything can be done right many times over, question would be are you doing it or having it done? Budget?

also was it done right, I mean I’m not too familiar with bobbing a bed but was brake lines modified etc?

I see it to be very possible to undo a bob, but I would heavily weigh out the pros and cons.

The truck looks cool though!!! Post some more pics and maybe some pics of the frame and what you got going on under there so the experts ( not me) can take a look see.

I just bobbed my bed 12". Just the back of the frame has to be cut off or the bed doesn't sit down on the frame anymore. It's the unboxed section on the very rear.

So It would be easiest (I think) to find an un cut bed, bolt it on and extend the rear of the frame so you have a place to put the rear bed bolts. It was just short sections of C- channel back there. The frame is boxed forward of that area.

Maybe someone that wants to bob the bed will be willing to trade. I don't think it would be difficult to do.

I’ll definitely post some more pictures, the truck is currently at a shop in Utah getting a NV4500 swap which is quite costly to say the least. But as far as my budget goes it will probably be 2K tops.
