gray toyota 92 pickup 2wd paint code 179

I'm doing some paint work on my truck. Color code is 179 (dark gray metalic).
Would Dupli-Color Prefect Match BTY1619 toyota be the same color? Its readily available and about a third of the cost for a code 179 paint that takes about 3-4 weeks to prepare.
thanks

Buy a can and try. If its not a decent match you can always remove it by wet sanding.

Shades of silver/gray and beige are notoriously hard to match; even with code. Then factor in sun fade.

Whenever you drive down the freeway and pass a silver or beige vehicle you can always spot the paintwork at an angle. Looking at it straight on it seems decent, but get it at a 30 degree angle and the mismatch really jumps out.

That's particularly true for "sparkly" (pearl, etc.) paints. It probably has something to do with the direction they're sprayed. My GF had a ding in the door fixed, where they sprayed an area the size of your hand. Perfect color match, but it jumped out in the sun. They ended up painting the whole door; the difference was too hard to see when your eye crossed the body seam.
