Weber carb T/S

Hey guys I actually turn a wrench for a living but am too young to have the carb experience alot of yall have! so in saying that I need help, I have been working on a 1986 22r for awhile now and installed a weber 6 months or so ago ( truck has only been cranked occasionally and only been on the road once). so as of tonight the truck will not run for more than 10-15 seconds without the choke. I have moved from the deep south up to south dakota and roughly changed my elevation by about 3000ft. I noticed I could get the truck to run longer with the adjustment screw almost all the way out. Where do I start with getting this thing tuned up for the road? I just checked for vaccuum leaks and it doesn't appear that i have one with the starting fluid method. I am not intimidated of pulling apart the carb but only want to have to do it once if I can help it.

Welll i cleaned out the carb it was exceedingly simple and shes running and idling now albeit it has a hesitation giving it gas. Next issues is that my fully rebuilt engine is leaking oil from the oil pan and appears to have quite a bit coming out of the exhaust. I havent readjusted valves since the initial build but i plan on doing so tomorrow and setting them to factory specs.

Find the tuning procedure for the weber and follow it exactly. What base adapter are you using?
The two plate version is known the leak.
Fuel pressure needs to be around 2.5 psi. stock pump puts out 6-8. Use a Holley fuel pressure regulator to bring the pressure into spec.
There is a good chance you will have to play with changing out jets to get it to run good. Its worth it.

well Ive got it going well enough to putt around and move I was expecting the weber to be a little more difficult to disassemble than it was. I have an aftermarket elctric pump that puts out 4psi max and a holley fuel regulator already. i have the 2 piece adapter but i checked for vaccuum leaks and it doesnt appear to have any.
