Hello everybody! Please forgive me if I am posting this discussion I want to have in the wrong place. I just discovered this forum right now and it looks like y'all have some passionate Toyota lovers here with great knowledge.
So I got this 1985 Toyota truck inherited to me a few months back and everything has been great on it until one day it just decided don't completely dead. No power or life at all and obviously no crank. So it's probably pretty obvious it's most likely a dead battery, but today I just discovered something. I discovered that it's 80 amp glow fuse is blown out and I'm not entirely sure what this fuse is even for?
I've spent a long time online today doing research trying to figure out what the heck it's purposes and the only thing I found out that is a possibility is it's a main fuse for either the alternator or the engine or something like that? Or maybe it's just a fuse for the car radio or something I have no idea. I'm going to check if the battery is dead with a testing kit today but if it turns out the battery is fine do y'all think this blown out 80 amp glow fuse is the reason why this car has no power anymore?
To anyone who can give me some answers I truly greatly appreciate it I have interest in mechanical work but I am in no way any kind of knowledgeable mechanic. So once again thank you I look forward to your replies.

Most likely but we need to verify, find out why it blew and fix that.
The 80-Amp Fusible Link powers pretty much everything, except for the Hazards and Horn the Headlights and radio memory, and I am guessing the ECU memory.
Many possible causes for that to blow. Be careful. The 80-amp FL is screwed into the brass tab under the fuse block. That tab is connected to the fusible link WIRE that goes directly to batt Positive.
Before you replace it, I suggest you find out where that short is.
Possibilities: Bad alternator rectifier, Some wire sorting directly to ground, etc.
Got a multi-meter and willing to use it? Then we can proceed.
Schematic from 1988 but power distribution most likely same as 1985
80-Amp FL screws on to this tab under fuse block. That tab is integrated with fusible link WIRE going to batt positive. Green thread on my wrist is simple Brazilian Friendship Bracelet from a friend.
