toyota 2L valve stem replacement
Hello,
i am planning to replace my valve stem seals due to rough starting and idle after starting, there is some smoke after i start the engine but only if the car has been off overnight. i suspect the valve stem seal on one of the cylinder.
i would like to replace the valve stem seal without removing the valve head, i do not have the tool to pressurerize the cylinder to make sure the valve would not fall in the cylinder. i have talked with some that say it can be done just by having the piston on top dead center. but i cannot find any videos or any forum where it is being done that way.
has anybody any experience by doing this or know anywhere i can read or see a video for this job on the 2L?

Can you track down the Factory Service Manual for what year you have ours don`t even show the 2L as a engine option.
Any Support from Your Local Toyota Dealer if that is an option ?
Sadly the 2L Diesel was never imported to the USA so those engines are few and far between on here .
I have never seen one in person .
Is there even a way to introduce air into the cylinder head ? Unlike with a gas engine you use the spark plug holes
I wish I could answer your question.
Check out our Diesel Swap section reach out to those that have swapped to your engine you might get lucky.

i do not have to add much oil daily or weekly, i add a little not much once a mounth. but suspecting the stem seals or only on one cylinder thats leaky. actually i watched some youtube videos after i put on the thread on how to replace the seals without taking the head off and found some videos on how to do it by putting rope inside the cylinder, guess i will be trying that way.
i live in greenland and the majority on the toyota pickup/hilux the engine is an 2L.
i can intruduce air through the glow plug hole but that also requires some special tools to make a air hose that fits the threads on this.
i will be looking closer at the diesel swap section, very new on this forum thanks for the adivse.
