AEM F/IC 6 install on 86 pickup 22re

He guys, I’m brand new here and I’m trying to install a fic 6 on a 86 pickup with a 22re. The motor is built but no forced induction. I have successfully installed a few piggyback computers on a few different cars. This time around it’s a bit different. I have no guide and since it’s an older vehicle I have no cam or crank sensors to tie into. I’m in my element under a dash with nothing but a multimeter. If anyone could give me any advice or if anyone has done this before and may have any tips or tricks for me. I have all the booklets and factory ecu pin outs. I’m at a point in the install where I feel intimidated by it because I’m in very unfamiliar territory. I have tried to find a guide for this vehicle to this piggyback but I’ve had zero luck.

my installs have been on newer Toyota’s like my 2005 Corolla Xrs or my friends 99 4Runner.

Welcome to YotaTech.

Let's see. According to https://www.aemelectronics.com/produ...ntroller/fic-6 , "AEM’s F/IC-6 allows racers to retard ignition and deliver accurate amounts of fuel to aftermarket forced induction race engines with up to 6 cylinders .... This system works ... on OBD-II-equipped race vehicles with non-factory forced induction systems with or without variable cam timing" Yup! That sure sounds like a 22re.

I was once, well, lost and asked for directions to (what I thought was) a nearby town. The local scratched his head and thought for a moment, followed by "Eh, up. If I was goin' to [town], I wouldn't start from here!"

Sorry, I can't help you with your 22re forced induction race engine. Good luck, though.

If you enjoy tinkering with old electronics you should look into doing a mega (or micro) squirt engine management system. Completely replaces the old Toyota computer and gives you complete control over the engine.
