Weber or Megasquirt opinions

So the POS Aisin knockoff on my '86 22R is giving me fits and it looks like the PO decided to just remove screws, vacuum lines, and clips randomly. I bought a holed 22RE with all the injection hardware for $150 with the intention of swapping it over and controlling it with Microsquirt. But I'm torn between spending $1000 on a Megasquirt setup vs maybe $500 on a Weber 32/36 swap.

Obviously the Megasquirt gives me more tunability and maybe the option to run a turbo later, but will it run any better? Will a Weber start easily when it's 15° in January? I also kind of like the simplicity of a carb/manual choke setup, but only if it's not as much of a PITA as my Aisin. Also, why was the RE rated at more horsepower than the R?

One vote for the mega squirt. Injection beats carbs hands down and twice on Sunday.
