Door ajar light stays on with all door sensors unplugged.
96 4runner
The door ajar light is on no matter what. If you switch the dome lights to door they stay on. I tried to narrow down which door it was by fiddling with the door sensors and eventually unplugged them all to find that the light didn't go out. When I bought the car neither the gauge lights nor the radio worked, so I installed a new radio and cleaned up the previous owners crazy stereo harness. The gauge lights and radio work fine.
That same day I removed the back door cover, messed with the lock linkage and lubricated the ˟˟˟˟ out of it. The back door opens now.
As I have unplugged 5 door sensors it seems that it's not a sensor issue. The radio is on the same circuit as the door sensors do i figure it must be something with that. All the wires in the radio harness are connected except an orange one which is a dimmer i believe. Disconnecting this one restored function to the gauge lights. The other is a gray and black that I've got grounded out(the door light is on whether its grounded or not), and a blue accessory wire that's not connected to anything.
Any help and advice would be great.

One of the silliest lights I ever heard of! It is obvious to the most casual observer, that the door is a DOOR, not a jar. A door cannot magically become a jar. That's just silly.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Seriously, though...
Sounds to me, for what it's worth, that the radio's keep-alive wire, the one connected to a constant hot source to maintain the radio's memory and so forth, got connected to the light circuit someplace. I'm not sure about the radio harness's 'pin-out, but getting ahold of one would be a huge help in this case.
Obviously, it shouldn't be connected up as it is now. I, personally, would start checking the radio's wire harness to find out where the light circuit is connected in, and remove the radio's keep alive from it. I'm not saying the radio is installed wrong, but something isn't right in this situation
See if you can find a schematic for the radio, or even installation instructions that describe exactly what each wire is connected to, and what it's for. Then you can compare that to what is actually connected in the radio's harness. That should at least get you close to what's connected to what it shouldn't be connected to, if that makes sense.
Good luck, and let us know what you find!
