swapping rear drums and back plate w/ newer axles

im using a 01 tacoma rear axle w/ e-locker on a 95 4runner. i want to keep the e-brake setup on 95 4runner but use the tacoma axle. can i swap over the drums and back plates from the 4runner to the tacoma without major modifications? before anyone mentions disc brakes, i strongly believes drums are superior. tia.

Drums are hardly superior to discs, but that can be a conversation for another day.
The axles and bearings are pressed into the hubs which, if I remember right, are part of the backing plate assembly. The 4 bolt mounting pattern should be the same, so I guess the only question is whether or not the axle to hub bearings would be the same.

Aren't they both drum brakes with basically the same E brake setup? I've never seen a toyota truck with rear disc brakes. (even including present day stuff) You'll also have to weld on spring perches and link mounts too I think. Isn't the 4 runner a link setup vs the tacoma leaf spring? Also I think that you can just cut a notch the current axle where the e locker stuff goes into the housing since (I believe, but it's been a long time) the Elocker was built off that generation axle. (seems I remember guys doing this on the old strait axle fronts to have a select-able front locker)

Yes they’re both drums. I believe he was talking about an aftermarket disc swap when he mentioned discs.
