Opening up tailgate with no power, Window up

As it might seem, this isn't a thread question to commit a crime lol.

I'm trying to get the drivers side tail light on a 2nd gen at my local u pull it but of course to get there you have to have the tailgate down (window is up as well).

Anybody know a way of getting that tail gate down. Obviously with it being a scrap yard all options are on the table for the sole retrieval of the light fixture. Thanks in advance.

You could take a battery with you and run wires if there aren't any to the motor and roll it down?
bypass all the switches and relays... just run a 12volt wire and a negative... just switch them to go up or down. You'll need to make sure it's grounded somewhere too.

Yep just like 87-4runner says, apply 12v just like you were testing the window motor and it should roll up or down depending on which way you have the wire.
