Do I have to use Zaino brand car wash between coats of Z2?

This is my second year doing the Zaino treatment. So far, I've gotten even better results than last year! I'd like to add a couple of extra coats of the Z2. My question is whether I can use another brand of car wash between coats of Z2. I believe someone on this forum said that you need to use the Zaino car wash between applications of Z2. Only after you are done with the polish can you then start using another brand. This doesn't seem right to me. Can anyone confirm or disconfirm?

Short answer: YES

Do I know from experience? YES

Don't mix w/ other brands. And use the spray shine.

Don't be cheap w/ this stuff. Buy whats right for your vehilce, stick w/ the best cotton towels, etc.

I ask because I only have a few more drops left of the Zaino car wash and a brand new bottle of Meguiars deep crystal car wash at my house. The weather is supposed to be nice this weekend (rare for Portland this time of year) and I am itching to put another coat or two of Z2 on. Maybe I could do a half assed wash with the remaining Zaino and then touch it up with a rag and some of the Zaino gloss enhancer.

You want to use a wash that doesn't leave behind any wax that might be incompatible with the Zaino Z2 polymer thus Zaino's wash would be best. Since the Mequiar's web site does not boast that the Deep Crystal wash contains any wax (unlike, say, Turtle Wax wash) perhaps it will be ok.

I am going to give my wife's car the full Zaino treatment this weekend - strip with dishsoap, claybar and then several coats of Z5 and Z2.

I would avoid washes that leave any other wax behind.

I have to admit that I take my Runner to a local car wash a couple times a month and my Zainos has held up for over a year. I wipe it down with the Z6 Gloss Enhancer and a Micro Fiber towel afterwards.
