22re overheated and now cranks but wont start

Hello. I have a 93 22re pickup that i had just bought and the otherday after i added coolant to the radiator i guess i forgot to tighten the cap.( i feel like a total dingbat) any whoo ot got hot so i pulled over shut it off let cool down and my friend showed up with some coolant and water. And started rite back up and was doin fine and then a hose blew so... Hot again so i pulled over and let it cool. Actually had to leave it where it was cuz i had to be to work.
so came back the next day and its not starting it cranks but wont start. It cranks and almost fires but not quite.
Tried jumping the fuel pump
it has spark
Tried starting fluid
all fuses are good
I believe all relays are good, except the efi. I think it may have somethin to do with that.
But if anyone can throw any suggestions my way itd be greatly appreciated thanks for reading.

Cracked head, or maybe blown head gasket?

I let a "friend" borrow my 4Runner once. ONCE. It threw the water pump belt while he was out. He drove it until it way over heated, stopped and let it cool, drove it until it overheated, let it cool, etc, all the way back to my place. Cracked the head, and the next day it wouldn't start at all. I had to replace the head. Twice. Got a bad one from the shop. So, two heads, two head gasket sets, as in engine rebuild gasket sets, having to work in 110° F heat on my days off, when I wasn't having to do other work around the house, etc. All because my "friend" was too lazy to bother installing the replacement belt I had sitting out in plain view in the back. Using the tools that were there too.

Needless to say, he never used either of my trucks again!

Anywho, that's what my experience was. YMMV, obviously, but it's worth looking into.

Over heated twice, dumped all the coolant in the engine bay.

OK exactly which line burst?

How does it sound while cranking?

Checked for wet sparkplugs?

You say "almost fires", do you mean it almost runs or just chugs a little?

That's a classic sign of a stuck thermostat. Unfortunately, it sounds like it may have lead to a blown head gasket.

Um the hose that blew??? Not positive my friend that came to help put the hose back on for me so im not positive. I was on my way to work so couldnt get all greasy. I know it took a while after filling radiator to reach the hose and start pouring out.
spark plugs were not wet , fouled but dry.
The sound it makes when i try startin it..... Ill make a video in a minute and post the link.
