Am I getting a good deal? 85 RE 2WD

I found a 1985 pickup with RE, bummed to find out its a 2wd, but its only 2,000 dollars. Going to check it out tomorrow to see if there's rust. My question is, are these that rare? 2,000 seems like a steal for an 85 RE even if its a 2wd. Thoughts?

Forgive my noob question, ive only just recently started learning about these trucks and immediately fell in love. can't wait to join the community!

Welcome! I've enjoyed the short time I've been here.
As far as a 2wd goes, $2K is probably ballpark for one in fair shape. A 4wd at that price would definitely be a find! The engine itself is fairly sought after, but the 2wd chassis is not so much. However, if you want a daily driver that will likely never let you down, that's about the most reliable 80's vehicle ever built.

I see, yea that's what I figured. I think ill pass and keep searching for a 4x4. I'm also really drawn to the 81's because they're the only year with round headlights and 5 speed tranny. Styling wise, I really like the older 79-81 models. I'll be doing a lot of reading on the forums for the next couple weeks

I agree the 79's are cool looking trucks. I imagine they're not easy to find these days. The good thing if you want a 5 speed manual is they're pretty easy to find all the way up to 2004.
