Could low rpm hestitation/bogging be AFM? Please Help!
I am experiencing low rpm hesitation on my 85 22re between 0-2200 rpms, but only when the engine is warm. The engine runs and accelerates the first 5 minutes after startup but the hesitation/bogging/cutting out takes place when the ECU starts recieving informative when the O2 sensor gets warmed up. Once rpms hit 2200 it runs smooth all the way up to switching to the next gear. I have replaced and adjusted the TPS, replaced the O2 sensor with a Demso, I have fairly new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor.s. I did a dynamic test on the AFM, everything specs out except the second test with E2-Vs. As I sweep the air vane the test goes from 20 to almost 3,500 back down to about 300 fully open. It obviously goes out of OLs, but I'm wondering if it's the AFM why does it run well when cold and then have hestitation/bogging issues later. Do I need to provide more information? I have owned the truck for 4 years and these are new symptoms. I see a remanufactured Denso in Auto Zone but wanted to hear opinions before I purchase it.

Runs well cold but hesitates/bogs when warmed up, it could also be your ignition coil. If the coil is failing or has shorts in it, this is exactly what might happen, as the extra heat sends the coil's resistance even higher & limits the electricity it can flow, resulting in weak spark when hot.
Same goes for the pickup coil in the distributor, they can fail in the same way & I have seen this before.
Only takes a few minutes with an Ohm Meter to test & know for sure.
The Pickup Coil spec is 130 to 180 Ohms cold. The Ignition Coil specs for the 85 22RE are 0.4 to 0.5 Ohms Primary, 8500 to 11,500 Ohms Secondary. Remember to disconnect every wire from the Ignition Coil for testing; failure to do so will give you false readings.
