91 4R Fuel filter nuts rounded over

So I'm trying to change the fuel filter on my truck. Anyone who's done this on a v6 4R knows its pretty tight in there. The 14mm nuts holding the lines to the filter are rounded over so a box wrench can't hold on. I tried different toothy pliers and wrenches but there's just not enough room in there, even a tiny bit of slip and you've already hit the other side. Short of removing the brake cable and torsion bar I don't think it can be done. Any ideas?

BTW this is preventative maintenence. I'm not really having any fuel issues right now but I think it's due for a change

If it were me, I'd stop right there. Once you've rounded the flare nuts, your only recourse is replace the whole fuel line (so in your case, two fuel lines). That's particularly true if you used "toothy" pliers; at best you'll have subtly distorted the flare nut and they will always leak. Replacing the flare nut requires replacing the whole fuel line, so there you go.

Here's my write up on replacing a 3VZE fuel filter. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...ctures-218962/ Not a picnic, but doable. I removed the brake cable because it was easy to do, but you sure don't need to remove the torsion bar.
