New to the Toyota game

So I went to the dark side and bought a 93 SR5 3.slow auto 4WD.
Headlights suck, moved to LED’s and love them.
Biggest issue is inop speedo. Previous owner swapped out the speed sensor and still inoperable. It’s not cable driven, I’ve heard that there is an issue with a capacitor in the speedo head that is common. Can I just buy the speedo head or do I have to buy the whole cluster?
Thanks in advance.

I was plagued with an inop speedom for awhile as well until smog came around had to get it right. I purchased a used cluster off ebay, and just swapped the speedometer out of it and did the trick. What had caused its failed was the cracked dashboard allows water or moister to drop down there off the windshield and makes its way onto the chip board as mine was corroded cause it got wet. The cluster are not cheap online, since them ive learned to take advantage of the local lkq salvage yards.
