Front 3rd member slop please help!

I have slop on my front 3rd member where the passenger side cv axle bolts to (6 bolts)

Do I need a whole new 3rd member?

Bearing inside needs replaced?

I have no idea how to take it apart (pull other axle??

Please help thanks!

Also there was chunks of metal the size of rice in my hub when I removed it no idea about that?

Some slop here is normal. Nothing to be done.

As long as a decent oil seal keeps the gear oil in, you're golden.

As to the metal behind the drive flange, you'll have to clean things up and examine everything more closely to determine what's what.

Think about putting on a set of locking hubs. The half shafts turn all the time with drive flanges. With selectable hubs, they'll only turn when the hubs are loc.ked in.

second that, theres an 'allowable tolerance' at those flanges. long as it doesn't leak gear oil everywhere your probably good. if your dead set on removing it, its not complicated and there are a dozen or more writeups on this site for how to.

I had to change out that seal once. Changing the seal is easy, changing the bearing involves taking the diff apart. Looks like a bunch of the photos are gone, but the text is all still there. May help.

You might well look to where the metal chunks were found. And to the condition of the half-shaft CV joints.
