Directions on flushing 2nd gens auto trans

I searched and found directions for the 3rd gens but nothing direct for 2nd gens. I am ready to flush my transmissions fluid out. I know that i need 7 Qts. of a Synthetic Dexron III fluid & a black bottle of LubeGard. I also know how to drain the fluid from the transmission pan. Is there a drain on the transfer case or does that fluid exit out through the transmission? Now onto the flush question. Which line is it that I remove from the radiator to flush the system? And from here I need direction. Once I remove the line what do I do? How many quarts do I put in after the flush is complete before I start the eng.? How many quarts total after a flush will I need. I saw where someone removed the line and ran clean fluid through the system. I also heard you can just start the engine and allow the fluid to spit out through that line. I just want to do this correctly. Help? Ben

Where did you get 7 qts? It's about twice that for a flush. Get about 15-17 qts to be safe. Here's a writeup from amsoil: http://www.amsoil.com/faqs/faq8.htm

I don't remember which line is which so you'll have to guess or wait for somebody else to answer. When I flushed mine I had tom watch the flow and yell when the fluid started to sputter. Then I shut off the engine and we added more fluid. We repeated that until the fluid coming out was clean. I think we tried to mark a bucket so that we'd know how many qts came out and then add that much back in.

The transfer case is seperate and you'll need to get a really big allen wrench. Like differentials, be sure to open up the fill plug first, then dump the oil.

What's lube guard?
