86 22r wont start when warm

I have an 86 22r pickup that will run and drive when the engine is cold but after I stop the engine after it gets warm and then go to start it again, the engine doesnt want to run, only turn over. I replaced spark plugs, the wires, igniter and coil, Im going to replace the coolant temp sensor when I get the chance, What else can I do to fix the problem

I just want to clarify a few things first.

Your engine is a 22R with a carburetor and not the 22R-E, right?

If you do have a carbureted 22R, a coolant temperature sensor is very unlikely to be the problem, and there are a few of them on the engine for various functions.

Your engine may be flooded with fuel, isn't getting enough fuel, isn't getting spark, or is experiencing vapor lock.

To rule out spark, you can either use a spark tester and see if you are getting spark to the cylinders, or you can hook up a timing light to the spark plug wires and look for the flash. The flash will show you if a spark occurred.

Next time it won't crank hot, pull the lid off the air filter, and check to see if the choke plate is closed. You should be able to disconnect the choke, and wire it open until you can get it fixed proper. I have had to do that on a few GM Rochester carbs over the years.
