88 4Runner power help

Hello, I’m really new to this so bear with me!
I have gotten a 884runner from my father and after getting some repairs on it, when I am driving I can reach about 55mph and 2500rpm and the truck feels like it loses all power, it won’t accelerate past that point. It is a 5 speed, we had a bad tps which we replaced and we tried getting a new ECU but the new one we purchased, when put in, idles really bad then the truck will just die. With the old ecu the truck start and runs fine until, like I said, we get to 5th gear, and hit 55mph then it just won’t accelerate anymore past that. Sorry for the long post, just trying to make sure I had all the info in there. If anyone has any ideas on why this would be, your feedback would be immensely appreciated!

You don't say whether 22re or 3vz engine

Actually, neither one makes much power at 2500 revs.

How does it do in 3rd and forth between 3500 and 4000 revs???
