Replacement fuel tank failure

Replacement fuel tank failure
I had a bad fuel pump and noticed that the inside of the tank is rusty, so picked up a replacement tank off Ebay. It is sitting in the attic for 2 years and not been installed yet.
In the meantime in Toyota RV community there have been several reports of replacement tanks failing and even the free replacements failing. It is always the same story the spot welds for the baffles on the inside of the tanks break. I would not think much of 1 or 2 reports but there have been several and some reporting that 2 or 3 and in one case 4 replacement s failing.
Not easy to track down manufactures and there seems to be 2 main ones. Dorman, Spectra. The tank I have does not have a manufacture name but is part # 1AFGT00551 and made in Taiwan. MOst do not pay attention to brand name on tank but with the failures Spectra is mentioned most.
So a couple things is this a common problem? Has anyone found a decent replacement tank that does not fail.
I am considering having the spot welds on the tank I have welded before installing, any thoughts on that??
Mine is a 93 V6, automatic. But there are a variety of years having tank failures. Any input appreciated.

Poor quality control on the China made tanks .
If you bought yours new about 2 years ago that was about when this was talked about .
Unless your welding the Tank yourself may as well buy a new one from Toyota
Because the one weld you did not reweld or just missed would be the one to fail
