i bought this sub today. got a quick question

it has two places on the sub where to put the speaker wire. (i think this is the dual voice coil...yeah..im dumb.. ) anyway...i was wondering how the best way to wire it up to my amp would be..

You were correct; it's a dual voice coil sub. (very nice sub too!)
Wire your amp to one set of inputs and from there connect them to the corresponding (obviously) color on the other voice coil. It is a dual 4 ohm voice coil sub so this wiring gives you a 2 ohm load on your amp, and therefore more power to your sub. Your amp is safe down to 2 ohms so no worries there. Yup, SuperRunner is right! Thats how I did mine...I would also suggest soldering the leads that are inside your box, if not they will have a tendency to rattle off, and plus soldering also promotes a better connection.

Another suggestion is to reinforce your rearview mirror...mine has fallen off twice, so I took the power drill to it and made sure that thing was torqued down!

thanks. is there some sort of picture that shows this? also, should i bridge my amp?

would it be ok to just run one channel to one voice coil, then the other channel to the other coil? haha..sounds like a good idea..right?

Your amp should have a diagram on the terminals, but typically you use one pole from each channel. IE.. Left + & Right -.....but your amp should show specifically how it should be done.

Are you certain you are running a dual 4 Ohm Sub? Is it a 10, or a 12? If you have a dual 2ohm, you'll likely not have much success in making your amp turn on.

 

Did you get 1 sub or 2?

That amp is 2-ohm stable in 2 channel. Are you sure it is 2-ohm stable in bridged mode?

 

Most often, an amp will be 2 ohm stable, bridged or not. I think thats the case here. It's not a high end amp, but at least it's name brand...so I think it's safe to assume it is 2 ohm stable.

 

its a dual 4 ohm sub..12 inch...

 

Its pretty much this exact one except its a little older and used...the one I'm getting is from a buddy and it can run just about 1600W if wired up right. Technically I think it would be considered a 1500...but its close enough.

Gap Guy is right; look under your speaker connections and there should be a diagram specifying '+' from 1 channel and '-' from the other. That's all there is to bridging. Rock on

 

ya hi.... by the way, since you have a stereo amp and your running a 2 ohm bridged mono load to the amp...it is technically running at 1 ohm!!!!! You have purchased the wrong type of amp speaker combo--- here are your choices: run the amp at 2 ohms and wait for it to explode or run it at 8 ohms and not have very much power. Only the Fosgate power series amps can run at 1 ohm and even then only sometimes without shutting off or catching fire. You need either another speaker exactly like the one you have so that you can run 4 ohms bridged mono or a single dual 8 ohm subwoofer. Of course you dont have to take my advice, people at my shop dont all the time and blow fosgate amps all day long.

eh. i guess. currrently though, im not running anything bridged. in that one post it sounded like you thought i was running somethin bridged..i dunno..im confused
