3VZE Thermostat Replacement

Good Evening All,

Had a little issue a month or so ago with sub freezing temps here in the state of Alabama. While driving to work, I noticed the temp gauge moving toward the red line. I pulled over and let the engine cool off,and checked the coolant level from the filler neck, all good. I was close enough to make it back home as the temp gauge began to red line (I know stupid me...) Once I shut the engine off the I noticed the radiator had sprung a leak from the previous owner's weld job of where it had previously cracked. Anyways, this past weekend I was able to get around to replacing the radiator with no issues. I decided to replace thermostat too. As I tried to install the new one, it was too large to place in the water pump recess. So my question is what is the correct size diameter for the thermostat to fit in the housing? 1995 Toyota Pickup 4wd 3.0L V6. Part numbers would be greatly appreciated.

I've been twice to Auto Zone and have not been able to find the right thermostat. Does anyone have any part numbers that match the 1995 Pickup?

rock auto has the aisin one under the cooling section for your year make and model. Now gonna seem like a dumb question but i am replacing the water pump on my 94 3slow 2wd 4runner japan model. question is I do have a water hose coming off my pump going to a round thingy on the bottom drivers side of block what is this? I have never had a toyota before so excuse the newb type question do have fsm for year and model but not alot of info in it on this part. I have however been through lots of toyota transmissions and transfer cases but never the motors rebuilding my motor need to understand this part and what it does so as to get the correct waterpump. To answer your question I live by the motorad fail safe thermostats being when they fail they fail in the open position.
