new cylinder head on 4g64 sohc 16v mitsubishi

Just put a brand new complete cylinder head on a 2.4l efi 4g64 16v sohc engine.
Changed oil filter and all gaskets, timing belt kit, water pump and hydraulic tensioner. all done to spec by a mechanic. Seems to be a lot of ticking from the engine...sounds a bit like a diesel. Timing is spot on, no smoke, engine revs free and good lotsa power. Concerned about the ticking. Mechanic said to take it for a long drive on the highway....thoughts?

Sounds like you need a turbo and a 4g63

You should introduce yourself in intro section and post pics of your rig.

i have the 4g63 myself, pilr of junk design with the carb. if its ticki g after a head change that would probably be due to the rocker arms needed to be gapped again. anytime the head is off, this needs to be done.
just pop the rocker cover and check theyre all in spec. really ur mechanic shouldve done it, but its likely it wasnt included in the quote.

actually sorry theyre hydrualic lifters arent they. no adjustment possible.
if a good drive hasnt sorted it, there may be a problem with a lifter or an oil channel :/
