22re N/A pistons in 22ret ?
I'm looking at buying an 87 Toyota 22ret in which the owner replaced the pistons with 22re N/A pistons. Is this a horrible idea? Is it going to blow up? This is probably a dumb question, but could I just switch the pistons back? Thanks for your help!

Comes down to the compression of the NA pistons.
the turbo engine had lower compression then the NA engines
I had heard the turbo pistons were different to allow better oiling of the cylinders but upon pulling my 1 rte apart I could see no difference perhaps they were changed already

Depends on what you a re going to do. If you are going with a DIY ECU and plan on cranking on it, then they have to come out in favor of forged slugs and a re-balance of the reciprocating assembly. If you have a RET ECU you have to live with its capability.
