Power Steering Leak - Pulley Shaft?

1994 3.0 V6

So I just bought this truck a week ago and already I've got a leak! After doing some light offroading I noticed fluid all over my battery and some drips down below. I thought I shook up the battery so much that fluid was coming out of the top. But after further inspection it looked like it was originating from the power steering pulley and slinging fluid all over the place. Also after further inspection I see that the PO filled it with power steering fluid even though it calls for ATF. I went ahead and bought a new pump, but was curious if just replacing the fluid with the proper stuff would fix it? I also bought some power steering stop leak just in case. What's my best plan of action to get as much power steering fluid out of the system before either filling with ATF or replacing the pump entirely? Eager to get this thing back on the road. Thanks.

Well drained the power steering fluid out and put ATF in. Turned wheel lock to lock and now ATF went everywhere!! Guess tomorrow I'll be replacing the pump.

Funny how many shops don`t check what fluid to use .

There's a rebuild kit available from Toyota in case you don't want to buy an all new pump - available at Camelback Toyota and elsewhere.

I used a non-OEM kit this summer and the pump itself no longer leaks, though I do believe some ATF is leaking out of the lines somewhere.

I don't like messing around with rebuilds. I'm almost too lazy to even do the removal and install myself.

I bought a new pump last weekend when I was in town.

I did go ahead and try some stop leak in it yesterday after cleaning the engine bay up a bit and it seems to have helped a little bit, but it's still leaking so I'm just gonna replace the pump today...though I will have to find someone with a pulley puller.
