1987 Toyota Pickup Overdrive light questions

I bought a 1987 Toyota pickup truck, auto trans.

Soon there after, I proceeded to remove the center portion of the dashboard, so I could insert a 6" speaker there for quality surround sound.

In that process, I had to remove the "overdrive" light that indicates if I'm in overdrive mode, or not.

Since then, it doesn't seem like I can switch in and out of overdrive.

Wondering a couple things;
One - Does the light need to be apart of the ciruit in order for overdrive to work
Two - Can I find replacements for the light?
Three - Is there a way to close the circuit without replacing the light?

More likely bad wiring, like those electrical nuts or similar.

My bulb is out and has no effect on shift selector.
