Where to find 5.29s for my 86 pickup?

Where to find 5.29s for my 86 pickup?

Hey everybody, this is my first time posting on here so thanks ahead of time for any replies. So I've got an 86 pickup on 31s but I'm wanting to upgrade to 35s and I understand 5.29s are reccomended for that but I'm on a limited budget as I'm still in high school. So I was wondering if there were any 4runners or something that came stock with 5.29s that would be compatible with my axles? I'm hoping to find some at a pick n pull that I could throw in for cheaper than getting brand new ones. Thanks!

There ain't no such gears in any stock Toyota
Ebay and Amazon are likely to give the cheapest prices on gears and install kits.
Tha labor of a competent installer is additional $$
Theres no cheap way to get what you want.

G144 would be the closest and those are rare to come by. those are 4.88 4pinion diffs out of manual V6 runners with 31" tires AND they had to come optioned with towing package.

anywyas, just search craigslist. people get rid of 5.29 all day long for cheap on craigslist. expect to pay around 500 for a set used without lockers.

quick question though, what direction are you wanting to go with this truck? why do you want 35" tires? what type of wheeling do you do? 35s on IFS are not friendly to the wallet at all as they wear the steering components faster. give us more details. go into www.yotatech.com/f199 and make a build thread.

^^this. 33s and 4.88s are the sweet spot for IFS rigs.

Got it... well with that in mind I'll probably wait on the 35's till I've saved enough to sas as well but thanks for that idea I'll start trolling craigslist to look for some new gears. For now I mainly wanted the 35s for a bit more axle clearance and honestly also just to have beefier looking tires on there. My parents own 38 acres of forest in Northern California so most of my wheeling just consists off old logging roads and just cutting up trees to make my own trails, I've definitely bashed up my IFS a bit on some downed trees and stumps so that's why I've wanted more clearance.

There's also an off-road park within an hours drive called hollister hills that I've really wanted to go wheel around I'm just not sure how far I'd get with IFS, 31s and no lift. I've been saving for an SAS and I'm hoping I'll start that by next winter, so when I'm ready to start doing more to my truck I'll definitely start up a build thread. Thanks for all your help guys, it's rad to have people's input who know their stuff.

Put lockers in first. Spend a little money on balljoint spacers and chevy 63" spring swap. Youd be surprised at how far you can get with a cheap locker and a more flexy rear end.
