Any experiences, thoughts or opinions on silicone coolant hoses? Doing a rebuild and considering replacing the hoses with silicone type from HPS ( part HPS 57-1323-BLK-2).http://www.hps-siliconehoses.com/toy...-hose-kit.html

So, it does not seem like silicone hoses are very popular, but seems like most of the comments are regarding cost and not performance. I agree with all that was said. I too have preference for OEM hoses as they have a good fit and last a long time, but some of them are pretty pricey, especially the formed ones like the heater hoses and oil cooler hoses. And let's not even talk about the $23 the dealer wants for PCV hose.

I was looking at the HPS hoses and saw "only one left" on Amazon for $30. Yes, $30. Seems too good to be true, but sold and shipped by Amazon. Figured not much to lose, so I ordered, then started wondering how they performed. I read some posts about them being more permeable than EPDM hoses. Have not received them yet, so not really sure what I am going to receive. I double checked the part number and description three or four times because $30 for a full set of coolant hoses seems cheap. Hoping for the best. Guess I will see in a few days when they arrive.

Silicone hoses work great, just don't clamp down on them really hard. They also don't take abrasion as well as a rubber hose... just something to keep in mind. Have used these on other rigs I'm into for years and they perform well and I feel are worth the cost, especially if you're due to replace the whole set, which at the age of our vehicles is probably wise. Good stuff in my book.
