Sounds interesting to me. I'd buy a hybrid for commuting in a heartbeat if they were more affordable. I do wonder how this will affect their trucks.

Doesn't affect me much since my 2000 will still be in service...

I hope they switch vechiles to hydrogen fuel cells. The emissions from the engine is water. How can you beat that. PLus they just built a new fuel cell plant about 1 mile away and the building is empty. They are waiting for orders to fill.

I have heard of this too, are there any companies implementing this technology right now?

If they could build a hybrid SUV that had all the capabilities of my 3rd gen 4Runner but got 50 mpg, I'd buy one in a heart-beat.
But, it would have to have off-road capabilities to rival my 4Runner. It would have to press me back in the seat when I hit the gas. And, it would have to get me up I-70 to Eisenhower tunnel at 70-80 mph like my 3rd gen 4Runner.

So, until it can do all that, I'll stick to my 22mpg 4Runner and my 33mpg Escort.
