My poor 4Runner recently succumbed to the infamous Toyota frame rust. The right suspension control busted clean off the frame. Welding is out of the question because of all the rust. Right now it is patched together with some steel straps and threaded bolts to make it driveable but certainly not safe. My options are very limited now and I'm hoping to find someone to buy the whole thing off me for parts. I actually like the idea of parting it out myself but I just don't have the space for it. I'm a new member and cannot yet post in the classifieds so I thought I would plant the seed here. I am certainly willing to part out easily removeable item but anything under the hood would be tough for me to do right now. If someone wanted to buy the whole thing, I was thinking $2000 would be a fair price but for individual parts we can privately discuss the details.
She's a 2000 LTD 4WD w/ elocker diff, 190k on engine and tranny, located in Lincoln,NE.
Will post pics soon.
Thanks guys!

Here are a couple pics of the repair. As you can see, its basically good as new!
But seriously if there is anyone out there with a good frame and some time on their hands, could be a fun project. In the meantime, I'm trying to sell things like the Husky all-weather floor liners, the digital climate control unit, headlight assemblies, basically anything I can remove without immobilizing the vehicle.

Sad to see this, as 3rd Gens are truly nice trucks that were well built and have proven to be extremely reliable. Somewhat mind boggling why Toyota wouldn't take care of failed 4Runner frames in the same manner that they handled the Tacoma mess.
I wish they would take care of the frames too, but it's not going to happen. My frame finally rotted to far also- going to try and find a replacement. I love my 4Runner.
Mine broke at exactly the same place. I'm well along on replacing the frame with one from a junkyard. Take a look at my thread on the 4Runner forum if you're interested...
