A340H transmission troubles

1995 4 runner 3.slow VZE 4WD. So here's the scoop. I bought said vehicle 3 months ago. Needs major tlc,but driveable.I'm driving around town and notice a little shutter on take off, figured it needed a lube job! Out of no where it loses every gear, even reverse and won't move in any gear, even 4we. I have a buddy put it on a roll back and drop it at the house. Get up next morning on a hunch and try to drive it,works just fine. Rinse and repeat a few times. Decide to put New solenoids in it and change all transmisson fluid. On drive home it does the same thing. It reads no codes per Toyota FSM tests, and no M.I.L codes. So my question is.. what could cause the transmission to work fine for a while then just loose every gear? I would really like get a solid fix for this problem. Thanks be for hand to whoever can help me with this dilemma.

Sounds like the clutches are worn out. Reason it drives is fluid is cold and thick, as the fluid warms up it becomes much thinner thus the slipping.

Might be

I was leaning in that direction. Most transmissions I have had fail, just go completely, first time this has happened to me. Needed to make sure it wasn't a unique Toyota problem, maybe I missed something during inspection type thing. Thanks for help.
