PCV valve and O2 sensor
Hello,
1990 22re 5 spd manual 350,000km.
Where is the PCV valve? Is it that hose behind that red connector and slightly to the left? Pic for reference
Also I sheared off the studs that hold down the O2 sensor mounting plate. Bound to happen...another pic for referemce
As a temporary fix can I just clamp down the new O2 sensor with something to hold it in there nice and tight? Thinking of getting a pair of metal brackets and tightening it down with a nut and bolt to hold it on securely for now. Any problems with this? Eventually I'll get to cutting out that section and taping in a new hole but don't have the time right now.

Also I'm getting code 25 and 26 at the same time. O2 sensor was one of the many possible fixes and it did fail the FSM test I tried but has anyone else gotten these two codes at the same time and how did you deal with it? Engine's running nice and smooth but fuel economy is terrible and I get a fuel smell sometimes.

1. I think so. But I'm no expert on that engine. Pull that hose and find out.
2. Good luck with that. Might work. But those suckers need to be sealed up tighter than a...whatever...sealed VERY well let's say. Or you'll find out why when the CEL comes on.

Guess I'll get her done the right way then. This will be my first shot at rusty exhaust work ...wish me luck!

What you pointed out is the pcv valve. As for the o2 sensor I would remove the pipe spray the stud with lubricant, let it sit for a day the get an easy out and try to get it out. If that don't work take it to a muffler shop. They can fix it. Make sure and get a denso o2 sensor.

Why the denso sensor? Already got one from Napa and can't return it since I ripped the package open

Well finally got to drilling out the sheared studs and taping in new holes. The new O2 sensor cleared codes 25 & 26. Thought I would just share what worked for me. Drove it for atleast an hour and probably turned it on and off 4 times throughout to see if it would pop back up. But I'm pretty sure it did the trick!
Freshly tapped holes. It was a real pain getting that exhaust pipe out.

After a while it doesn't want to come out of the sealing grommet. Mine was so hardened that I had to cut it into pieces to get the valve out. I took the valve cover off and inspected it to make sure I got all of the pieces out.

Nope but I tore a bit of it off during the process. Will have to tear the rest out and get a new pcv valve grommet.
