'95 4Runner. Do I need shocks for a lifted application?
Hi all,
I've had my 4Runner for a while now, but it's finally becoming obvious that I need to replace the shocks. I'm pretty certain that I'm going to go with the Bilstien HDs, but I'm seeing that there are some for 2-2.5" lift listed and others for stock height and I'm honestly not sure whether or not mine counts as lifted. The guy I bought it from only had it for a short while and then the head gasket blew. I bought the thing super cheap, replaced the head gaskets and have been just driving it for about four years now.
The guy I bought it from told me that the guy he bought it from had installed the "Factory anti-sag springs" and then cranked up the t-bars to make it flat. I'm not sure what that means, as I can't seem to find any reference to a "factory anti-sag" spring on the internets, so I'm not sure what's in there. What I do know is that the rear springs are yellow, the truck does not sag, it's very level, the front does not have BJ spacers and it's a little taller than other 2nd gens I see, but it also has 3rd gen 16" wheels and tires on it, which probably contributes. So, here are my questions:
Anyone ever heard of "factory anti-sag springs"?
How do I know if I need the "lifted application" shocks?
And, I guess, while I'm on the subject - anyone know where to get a good price on Bilstien HDs?
Thanks!
