And then she just died....

84 xtra cab, 22r
Started her up to go to work. Got about 1 mile down the road and heard what I can only describe as a bit of a rattle. I quickly pulled over and hopped out to take a look under the hood. As I look around to see what the issue could possibly be, she just dies. No cough, no sputter, just quit. Finding this very odd, but not overly concerned, I went to start her up again and I get nothing. The starter is cranking, but that's it. Checked the spark plugs and removed any fouling, nothing. Checked the distibutor and made sure contacts were clean, nothing. I can only think it may have a fuel delivery system issue. All the hoses are connected and I'm afraid I'm going to have to tear the carb apart. Any other checks I should make before that?

Timing chain snapped. Or something to that effect. Just a guess.

Removed the valve cover and found that the timing chain did indeed come off.

Found it as you see with the broken part in the above picture sitting to the left of the chain.

Rocker arm has a spacer that fell off....not sure if these problems are related.
